Grades: 11, 12 One Semester

Qualifies for applied Technology Credit

Prerequisite: Architectural Drafting land 2, CAD 1 and/or 2, and/or instructor’s consent

The course focuses on the construction aspects of architectural. Students will be doing detailed drawings of foundations, floor framing, wall framing, roof framing, and stair construction. Also the labor, materials and equipment cost are topics covered. Major design projects will be completed throughout the semester.

     
 

Architectural Seminar

Grades: 11, 12 Multiple Semesters

Prerequisite: Instructors Consent

Arch Seminar is a combination of introductory level design & an advanced level design.

 

The introductory course is designed for students to complete an entire project which can be used as a portfolio piece. This project is meant for any student interested in pursuing a career in Architecture or related field beyond high school.

Students will also be required to keep a sketchbook (8 1/2 x 11). Sketch books will be collected at the end of each 6 week grading period.

 

The advanced course is for students to have a final chance to develop their design and drafting skills. In this class you will be given 1 of 5 scenarios. Each one is different in square footage along with electrical, plumbing, framing, and keeping your client in mind, and that it is a workable solution. The drawings to be done are:

  • Initial rough sketches
  • Presentation drawings (Floor plans & All elevations)
  • 2-point perspective (which will be rendered)
You will also be required to build a foam board model of your house.
 

CAD 1

Grades: 10, 11, 12 One Semester

Qualifies for Fine Arts or Applied Technology Credit

Prerequisite: Architectural Drafting 1 & 2 or instructor’s consent

This course is designed to teach students the basic skills necessary to draw, save, and plot an architectural drawing using the Cad program. Students will be:

  • Learning basic commands
  • Creating template files
  • Object placement and drawing management
  • Line text and styles
  • Coordinate input
  • Layers
  • Model space & Paper space
  • Dimensioning

CAD 2

 Grades: 10,11,12 One Semester

Qualifies for Fine Arts or Applied Technology Credit

Prerequisite: CAD 1

This course is designed to further enhance the student’s skills with the AUTOCAD program. Students will continue learning new commands, as well as learning to be more efficient with the skills learned in CAD 1 without losing precision. Site specific tasks are assigned and practice is provided for developing solutions to site specific problems.

Drafting 1

 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 One Semester

Qualifies for Fine Arts or Applied Technology Credit

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic skills necessary to draft and read architectural floor plans, elevations, and section drawings. Students will also be doing 3-D axonometric of a floor plan. We will also be covering kitchen layouts and designs. Each student will be able to design and draft his/her own kitchen.
 

Drafting 2

 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 One Semester

Qualifies for Fine Arts or Applied Technology Credit

Prerequisite: Architectural Drafting 1

This course is designed to continue teaching students the skills involved in the design, drafting, and reading of architectural drawings. Students will be working on one house throughout the semester and will finish with a full set of drawings. The project will include the following:

  1. Space planning
  2. Remodeling an existing home, adding a 2nd floor
  3. Floor plans with door and window schedules
  4. Site plan
  5. Foundation plan
  6. Electrical plan
  7. Elevations
  8. Shade and shadow
