Concert Chorus - (I) Non-sequential One semester
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Men’s/JV Women’s Chorale, or by audition/instructor permission
This select choir of 60-70 singers is designed for the advanced vocal student who would like further participation in a mixed voice choir. Students rehearse, discuss and perform a wide variety of music from classical to popular to multicultural styles, and they are also responsible for a working knowledge of basic music theory and sight-reading. There are 4-5 programs per year. Meets a Performing Arts requirement.
Varsity Women’s Chorale - (I) Sequential Two Semesters
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: JV Women’s Chorale, or by audition/instructor permission
This highly selective choir numbers 35-40 girls, performs 6-8 programs per year, participates in clinics, contests and festivals. The group is open by audition to girls with one or more years of choral participation. Emphasis is on advanced choral performance and vocal techniques, musicianship, and sight-reading. Repertoire is primarily classical from all cultures and periods, and an emphasis on a cappella performance. Meets a Performing Arts requirement.
